On this day in 1998, the Indiana University a capella group, Straight No Chaser, first performed its rendition of “Twelve Days of Christmas” in concert at the University. In 2006, a video of this performance was upload to YouTube where it went viral.
This led to the group getting a record deal, and the song climbing to the number five position on the Adult Contemporary chart. Since earning their record deal, the group has released five albums, toured internationally and performed on the Today Show. The origial YouTube video has been viewed over 18 million times!
