Today, Monday 28, in 1968, the Beatles began a nine week run at No. 1 on the US singles chart with “Hey Jude”. This tune, penned by Paul McCartney, is about McCartney’s son, Julian. It also gave the group its 16th US No. 1 and was the best selling single of 1968.

Fun fact: In 1996, Julian paid almost $38,000 for the recording notes for “Hey Jude” at an auction.
