Summer is just around the corner and if you’re looking for Nashville Area Summer Music Camps, then you’ve come to the right place!  There are two Summer Music Camp Sessions Offered:

Session I—June 21-25           Session II—July 19-23

Here are the different Nashville Area Summer Music Camps and their descriptions.  All Summer Music Camps are taught by Music Star Studios’ teachers who are Music Degreed!

TUNES FOR TOTS *6 months—3 years* 1 hour per day class $90:

The Tunes for Tots class is based on the Lynn Kleiner series “Babies and Kids Make Music”.  This important foundational class helps your infant through toddlers interact musically with you, the parent!  What I love about the infant series is that your baby learns early developmental communication skills through musical interaction with the parent.  The toddler series allows your toddler to experience real music instruments in a structured environment; the toddler also learns how to match pitch through games and songs.  Structured and unstructured movement activities allow the toddler to express themselves in a positive and musical way!  A perfect class for giving a head start to the child who will be taking individual music lessons in the future!  Music Star Studios teachers will be watching each child to determine if an exceptional musical ability is present.

If you would like an individual instrument kit/DVD to take home and use, there is an additional $45 charge

MUSICAL MINDS* 4-5, 6-7, 8-10 years * 2 hour per day class  $150:

Take your child’s music ability to the next level!  This two hour class based on the Internationally Renowned “Music Mind Games” series by Michiko Yurko teaches music theory in a “game-oriented” way.  Without even realizing it, your child is learning how music is “put together”; that is, they are learning the theoretical foundation behind music.  I have been using these games for over 10 years and children are constantly asking to play more!  The great thing about this approach is that the games start on the beginning level and then become more advanced as the child’s learning advances.  Music Star Studios teachers use these games to help children know what’s going on “behind the scenes” in music!

Rock Guitar Camp * 8-12 years * 2 hour per day class $150:
This edgy and fun workshop combines basic guitar skills with improvisational and rock elements to create an exciting learning experience in a group setting.  The student rockers will use electric and/or acoustic guitars and learn to play different parts with other guitarists in a band.   This camp, taught by Music Star Studios’  Teacher Daniel Walker, focuses on TAB reading, playing guitar with others, and improvising over rock progressions.  Rock styles explored will include classic rock, blues, modern rock, and funk.  Guitar students from beginner to intermediate will be challenged and will come away with a greater understanding of the guitar and how to play rock guitar.  You WILL rock!!!

Heavy Metal Brass Ensemble * All Ages * 2 hour per day class $150:

Tired of  focusing on the whole band or orchestra? Then check out this heavy metal camp:  Brass only—leave your violins at home!  Ensemble setting; music from traditional to rock!

Participating in a small ensemble is an excellent way to improve as an all around musician.  A “Chamber” group can range from a duet, or a trio and range all the way up to larger ensembles.  The benefits of playing in a chamber ensemble are numerous.  One of the key aspects of playing in a small group is having only one player per part.  This requires each individual in the group to be responsible for their music, and to be able to play it as if it were a solo.  Along with playing individual parts, each player must also be aware and make good decisions with regards to how their part fits within the    ensemble to make the best music possible.

With this opportunity to play in a small group and receive professional coaching, a student’s musicianship can be quickly elevated.  So get your heavy metal brass friends together and join us this summer as we take your skills to the next level!  Who knows, this could lead to a whole brass program!

Carpe Musica * All Ages, Instruments and Levels * 2 hour per day class $150:

Carpe Musica is for students who want to progress quickly in a short amount of time.  This intense class is for those students who want to progress quickly in a short amount of time.  Placed with one or two other peers, this 2 hour per day class will challenge each student to set a high goal and spend a week achieving it.

An example of this would be for a student to say they are going to completely learn and memorize five pieces of music and also learn the entire Circle of 5ths during the week.  Each student may set their own individual goals to achieve.

During a six week summer program, it’s entirely possible that a student may complete an entire lesson book of music!

The expectations are as follows:  for a 2 hour class, the student should practice each day for two hours.

Shining Stars On Broadway * 8-12 years * 2 hour per day class $150:

They say the lights are brighter on Broadway… and they will be at this fun-filled camp as well!  Music Star Studios Teacher Heather Whyte will lead this week of “singing your Broadway and Disney hits heart out” where students will learn how to sing these fun songs in part harmony form!  No experience necessary.
